JUDGMENT GIVEN.
Document was Indecent, says Magistrate. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 30 Judgment was given to-day in the case of Arthur Cleave, who was charged with printing an indecent document —an illustrated advertisement relating to a contraceptive. The Magistrate, Mr J. K. Hunt, S.M., said that he was of opinion that the advertisement clearly came within the section of the law relaing to indecent; publications. Counsel had referred to the usual modern arguments about birth-control, but the section of the Act still stood. Publishers should read the Act carefully. In future prosecu* tions and fines would be heavier. A fine of £lO and costs was imposed.
