PERSONAL.
Captain Gardner arrived from Wellington yesterday morning. Mr I. H. Stewart (Auckland) is staying at Warner's Hotel. Mr M. Fleming (Wellington) is a guest at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr Garth Walcot Wood, of Upper Riccarton, was admitted to St George’s Hospital yesterday for an operation. Mr L. R. C. Macfarlane, president of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, left by the Aorangi on Tuesday on a business trip to Suva. Messrs T. R. Ritchie and C. W. Rattray (Dunedin) arrived by the ferry steamer this morning. Guests at the United Service--. Hotel include Messrs G. Springhall, D. A. Ewen (Wellington), IT. Denton (Auckland) and G. A. Dick (Tasmania). Messrs W. Whitcombe, D. Springhall, D. A. Ewen and J. Palmer arrived in Christchurch from the north this morning. Mr Justice Frazer, president of the Arbitration Court, and Mr A. L. Monteith, employees’ assessor, arrived from the north this morning. They proceeded to Hokitika, where the Court will sit to-morrow. The Rev J. R. ITervey, vicar of Shirley, has returned from New Brighton, where he lias been recuperating after his long illness. He will resume his ministry at St Stephen’s Church on the second Sunday in July. Mr Gus Bluett, comedian, who has been associated with many of the J. C. Williamson musical comedies and toured Australia with his own revue company, was a through passenger by the Ao'rangi this week. He is accompanying Mr W. Thomson, owner of the King’s Cross Hotel, Sydney, on a visit to the Islands.
