CITY RELIEF WORKS.
The City Engineer (Mr A. R. Galbraith) said to-day that it had been decided not to a schedule of unemployment relief works for the present year. Provision would be made for a large number of relief workers to be employed on a subsidy basis, and work would be carried out as pediency demanded. As a result of the completion of most of the work provided for in the £220.000 loan schedule about thirty men who have been employed bv the council for the past three or four years have now been discharged.
