CHAMBER MUSIC.
The large attendance of music lovers at the first concert of the newly formed Haurian Club, which was given in the Radiant Hall last night, must have been gratifying to the organisers. It is seldom the fortune of most musical societies, when setting out to gain the confidence of the public, to receive such an enthusiastic reception as the members of the club obtained. From the beginning to the end, the excellence of the programme and the high standard of the playing must have surprised the most dubious of listeners. The orchestral work was of a high standard, all the attacks being prompt, whilst the colourirtgs and shades were well diversified. Mr Harold Beck, the conductor, had his charges under perfect control, and the result was a finished performance.
