COIN AFTERNOON.
Large Gathering Assists Charity Ball.
There have been many small bridge parties and evenings given by people interested in the work of the Charity Ball, but the coin afternoon in the Jellicoe Hall yesterday eclipsed all other gatherings, there being several hundred people present. The afternoon was arranged by Lady Clifford and ladies of the Supper Committee for the forthcoming ball, and realised over ~20. A delightful programme arranged by Mr W Toomey was given, the following being the items:—Pianoforte solos, “ Scherzo ” (Chopin) and “ Liebestraume ” (Liszt), Mrs D. F. Dennehy: songs, “ Love, the Jester,” and “ The Heart’s Desire,” Mrs Frank Hinton; dialogue, Misses Ngare Hooper and D. Armstrong; songs, “The Glory of the Sea ” and “ Ave Maria,” Miss Myra Sutton: songs, “I Heard you Singing” and “Mv Desire,” Mr David M’Gill; song, “ Regenava nel silenzo,” Miss Millicent O'Grady; songs, “ The Arrow and the Song” and “A Farewell,” Mr W. Toomey. Mrs Dennehy, Mrs W. Toomey and Mr S. Morgan were accompanists. After the items, afternoon tea was served.
