Cheerful Retailer has No Fears.
“ We’re doing our bit in bringing better times along,” said a leading Christchurch retailer y r esterday. “All that big extension of our premises lately was a help to trade. And it meant that we were able to show extra stocks. We’ve reduced our prices and are selling more goods. Paying out wages regularly to hundreds of employees helps to stabilise things, too. And they’re all happy. We don’t go about with long faces. Everybody knows the world is topsy-turvy, but it will come right. The world has seen depressions before, and dismal people have run around with stories that good times have gone for ever. But things will be better very soon, if people just buy normally and smile. Just believing in better times coming, and telling people so—that will help. And, don’t forget, we’re giving more to-day for the money.”
