OLD GERMAN CHURCH.

Historic Building to be Pulled Down. The old German church at the corr of Worcester and Montreal Streets to be pulled down. Because of its e, and because it is desired to carry the activities of the church in a rt of the city where there are greater ssionary opportunities, tenders have en called for the sale of the property, d a long and interesting history is us brought to a close. In 1883 services in the church were and until 1892 it was used a meeting place by the Canterbury eethinkers’ Society. In that year it verted to its original use, but since 94 no services have been conducted the German language. The church had a fine peal of bells, esented by the German Government, d supposed to have been made from Jtal from French guns captured by e Germans in the Franco-Prussian ar. Such a strong mark of German tionality was unpopular during the reat War. and, as the result of feelg, the bells were removed and melted iwn. It was then found that the etal could not possibly have come )m guns.
