P. AND T. PROTEST.
Request for Removal of Restrictions. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, May 18. At a meeting of the Southland section of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association this evening the following resolution was carried:—“The Southland section of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association deplores the Government’s action in characterising members as disloyal, whereas loyalty and responsible citizenship are our first and foremost consideration. We assure the business community that organised coercion is not part of our policy, and that their sympathies and not their animosity are required in the furtherance of our salary grievances and other proposals for the economic benefit of the community as well as ourselves. As our association is nonpolitical and is not responsible for individual actions or opinions we ask that the recent restrictions be removed, so that our constructive efforts may be continued without hindrance.”
