Figures for Past Quarter Show Increase. British Official Wireless. (Received May 19, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, May 18. The returns published by the Board of Trade reveal that the proportion of imports from British countries in the January-March quarter showed a marked increase as compared with the coiresponding periods of 1931 and 1924. British countries also took a slightly larger proportion of the United Kingdom’s exports than last year and a considerably greater share than in 1924. During the first quarter of the current year 34.48 per cent of the United Kingdom’s imports were consigned from British countries. In 1931 and 1924 the proportions were 30.13 per cent and 30.69 per cent respectivelv. The percentage of United Kingdom exports absorbed by British countries was 43.83 against 43.01 m the first quarter last year and against 40 94 in the corresponding quarter of 1924.
