Electric Installations.

To the Editor. Dear Sir, —As the City Council is respor sible for the actions of its servants, I thin! the actions of its electrical inspector should be given publicity as these aut< crats are condemning electrical fitting merely on a point of law. Electrician follow up the electrical inspectors and leav their cards with a quote for making th fittings comply with the Government regi lations. These inspectors are all rules and regul* tions, with only one idea in the world, an< is to administer the Government regi lations. The tendency nowadays seems t be to temper justice with mercy whei dealing with criminals, and to administe regulations harshly to law abiding citizen! The authorities are now getting their r< ward for pampering law-breakers, and propose to retaliate against Governmen red tape. I have specialised in the stud of electricity and know there is no rea danger in the fittings condemned in my tw houses, which are modern. As other property owners will be treate< the same as myself, I propose to give then a tip on how to get even with the Cit Council, and that is to demand a revalui tion of their properties. All rents are dow 20 to 30 per cent and the value of propert has depreciated to that extent, and this i what I am going to demand. Meanwhile, have received a notice to comply with th regulations to ensure not being cut off. have ignored the notice and await th action of the City Council to see if the will go the length of cutting people off o a mere point of law.—l am, etc., R. W. PEARSE.
