TENNIS STAR WEDS.

Mr Ivan Seay Marries Miss Nancy McDougall. POPULAR SOCIAL EVENT. The marriage was solemnised this afternoon at St Mary’s Church, Merivale, by Archdeacon P. B. Haggitt, of Nancy Malvina, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. E. McDougall, “ Fitzroy,” Papanui, and Ivan Atherton, youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. N. Seay, Church Lane, Merivale. Mr Seay is the well-known New Zealand representative tennis player. The church was beautifully decorated with cream flowers, autumn foliage and maple palms. Mr A. Worsley was the organist. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsome gown of deep cream satin and Chantilly lace. The long sleeves, fitting bodice and skirt were of lace. The satin, falling in loose panels from the hip line at the sides and back, formed a leaf design in points on the bodice. The bodice was cut with a neckline and was finished with a tiny satin bolero in pointed design. A long satin train was placed on the shoulders in points to correspond, and fell gracefully in a square-cut design. Her veil of billowy tulle fell from a flat coronet of pearls and orange blossom buds, and she carried a loose sheaf of freesias and green orchids. The bridesmaids, Miss Margaret Halsted (Dunedin) and Miss Claire Webb, cousin of the bride, wore dainty blossom pink sleeveless georgette frocks with fitting cross-over bodices and ankle-length skirts. The skirts were inset with flared side pieces arranged in semi-circular design at the hipline. They wore atractive waistlength coatees in a deep rose shade of ring velvet clasped tightly to one side and with long sleeves puffed at the elbows. Their narrow brimmed felt hats toned with their frocks and trimmed with the rose velvet, and they carried loose sheafs of pink roses and carnations and fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr E. Orbell as best man and Mr O. A. Y. Johnston as groomsman. Messrs Ralph Beadel and L. J. le Cren were ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held at “ Fitzroy,” Mr and Mrs R. E. McDougall’s beautiful home in Papanui. The reception room was massed with bowls of bronze and lemon chrysanthemums and autumn foliage, and the marquee, erected on the lawn, was arranged with bowls pi berries and autumn foliage. Vases of pink roses and antirrhinums decorated the bridal table. Mrs McDougall received the guests wearing a smart black silk marocain frock with a bolero effect on the bodice opening to reveal finely tucked pink georgette. The skirt flared from the knees, and the sleeves were finished with pin-tucked pink georgette cuffs and the narrow belt with three pink buttons. Her hat was of fur felt with a black ostrich feather mount and brilliant buckle for its trimming, and she carried a bouquet of pale and deep pink hyacinths. Mrs Seay, mother of the bridegroom, wore a smart black georgette and Chantilly lace frock. The lace yoke over pink’ georgette formed a deep point in the bodice back and front, and panels of lace shaping into a hip yoke were swathed to one side, revealing the finely tucked georgette skirt. Her hat was a black felt and velvet tricorne trimmed with a beige feather mount at one side, and she carried a bouquet of red flowers. Mrs Jack F’errier, sister of the bride, wore an attractive Forrester green satin frock under a green coat to tone, trimmed with a large squirrel fur collar, and a green felt hat with a marigold feather at one side. Her posy was of orange arbutilons. Mrs Griffiths Bristed, sister of the bride, wore a smart Havana brown georgette frock with insets of beige lace in the bodice and a cloth coat with beaver collar and cuffs and a smart brown felt hat to tone trimmed with a beige feather mount. A posy of gold tinted flowers was pinned in her coat. Mrs J. Dolph, sister of the bridegroom, wore a becoming nigger brown w r ool georgette frock and bolero with a \yool lace yoke and fitting sleeves of lace and georgette. The bolero was edged with brown caricule with an upstanding collar. She wore a brown felt hat with orange velvet trimming, and wore a posy of orange begonias. Miss Adele Seay, sister of the bridegroom, wore a black georgette frock with a rose beige lace yoke forming a deep V, and rose beige lace sleeves. Her short black georgette coatee had elbow length sleeves, and she wore a black felt hat trimmed with a scarlet felt bow. She wore a posy of deep red carnations and fern. When Mr and Mrs Ivan Seay left on their wedding tour, the bride travelled in a smart spruce green wool crepe de chine suit. The crochet jumper in lighter and darker tones of green was in open-work design and finished with green buttons down one side. The three-quarter length coat, smartly pin-tucked, had three-quarter-length sleeves revealing the tight sleeved jumper, and her hat was of green felt to tone wdth a pale green feather mount.
