The Health Camp Committee had decided to make application for the use of the pavilion at Okains Bay for & children’s health camp next January. Mr C. M’Kellar reported for the Smoke Sub-Committee that his committee was still working upon smoke consuming devices, and that a radio talk upon smoke abatement had been arranged. For the Dental Sub-Committee, Miss M. M’Lachlan stated that a series of articles for educational purposes about teeth were to be published in the “Christchurch Times.” The matter was being brought before the Dental Association by Mr D. V. Donaldson. A series of short radio talks had been arranged for the children’s session at 3YA on Friday evenings, beginning on June 10, when Miss M’Lachlan would speak upon the subject of teeth. On behalf of the Educational and Publicity Sub-Committees it was reported that the speeches at the annual meeting would be broadcast from 3ZC. It was also stated that four talks under the auspices of the Sunlight League would be given from 3YA shortly. The tramping sub-committee reported that a second visit had been made to the bays on the Peninsula, and accommodation at seven hostels had been definitely arranged. The meeting of tramping clubs had resulted in nine clubs joining to form the Youth Hostel Association of New Zealand. Three or four parties had already made application for admission to the hostels. The only qualification for the low rates arranged was membership of a tramping club affiliated to the Youth Hostel Association and presentation of the association membership card on arrival at the hostels.
