The Russian Army.
To the Editor. Dear Sir,— ** A.C.E ”, in your issue *- February 29. reckons the size of the armies on area. Why does he not include India and the Empire generally in Great Britain s area? We note that he all the separate States in the Soviet Union in Russia's area.
The right of Russia to maintain a large army is obvious, but it is ridiculous for her Communist sympathisers to argue that it is less aggressive, or smaller numerically, than those of other Powers. It is not
“ numerically insignificant,” as “ A.C.E.” says, but is one of the largest forces in the world to-day and well equipped, and the reasons for its existence have been very frankly stated by Soviet leaders.—We are, etc. ' N.Z. WELFARE LEAGUE. March 5. 1932.
