DRASTIC U.S. TAXATION.
NEW YORK, March 6. A drastic taxation measure has been agreed upon by both parties in Congress and. having President Hoovers approval, it has been drafted. It is designed to produce 1.096.000,000 dollars additional revenue during the fiscal year. 1933. . „ Among the many exceptionally’ severe provisions is a sales tax of 2r per cent on most commodities, save necessities. There is an increase in income taxes, a special excise tax, and a tax on telegraph, telephone, cable and radio messages.
