LITTLE RIVER EWE FAIR.

Entries Well Down on Last Year’s Figures. The Little River ewe fair was held to-day in fine weather. The entry was very much reduced and appeared to be little more than half last year’s entry of 10,000 head. The Little River fair is the principal coarse wool fair of the Canterbury season, and as a rule attracts a very high class of sheep from the Peninsula flocks. Practically all the sheep entered to-day showed plainly that they had suffered considerably during the dry spell, and the quality of the yarding was much below standard. Values for two-tooth were firm frem the outset, and were from par to a shilling a head above Hawardan values. Top price for two-tooth was 235, -secured for 70. sold on account of Commander Hall (Peraki). A line of 145 was sold on account of L. O. Coop (Kaituna) for 225. The best price last year was 38s 6d. The four-year-old sheep were mixed in appearance, but, over the early part of the sale, sold steadily at rates on a par with those ruling at Hawar-
