COLLECTORS WANTED.
Street Appeal for Mayor’s Fund. More collectors are required for the Street appeal to be made on March 18 to raise funds for the Mayor’s Distress Fund and the All Nations Fair, and the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) said to-day that offers of assistance should be sent to the Town Clerk. It is proposed to make a big effort to raise sufficient funds to cope with the relief of distress in the city- in the winter months, and 500 collectors are wanted for the street appeal. Up to to-day 102 offers of assistance as collectors have been received, but manymore are wanted. The J. C. Williamson Gilbert and Sullivan Company has offered to provide twenty collectors for the appeal.
