MANY RETURN HOME.
Migrants Leave Dominions for Britain. THE PROBLEM OF SURPLUS. United Press Assn.-—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 7. 11.30 a.m.’ LONDON, March 5. The “ Morning Post ” quotes statistics from the “ Board of Trade Journal,” showing that for the first time more British people entered Great Britain in 1931 than departed. Details show that 23.000 more British people entered than left. Against the outward balance of over 8000 in the previous year, Australia, New Zealand and Canada all sent more than they received.
The “Morning Post" says: “We can only suppose that they have been either beaten by the harder conditions in the New World or attracted by the softer conditions of the old. In any
case, it is not a good sign of the times, for it makes more difficult the problem of how to maintain the surplus in these islands."
