DOROTHY MACKAILL.
England Cannot Afford Her Terms. Dorothy Mackaill, the Hull-born Hollywood star, who recently married a cabaret singer, is anxious to make a picture in England—but no company there is prepared to pay her the money she is asking. The news that she wanted to come home reached London in a cable to an agent who was asked if he could arrange an engagement for her. The cable intimated that Dorothy was ready to work for less money than she customarily receives in Hollywood. On the other hand she insisted that the story chosen must first be submitted for her approval. The agent approached a number of British film companies, but the highest bid made was more than £IOOO less than Dorothy Mackaill had suggested as a lump sum for the picture. J here, for the time being, the matter rests.
