UNEMPLOYED WOMEN.
Reports of Various Subcommittees. Reports were received at a meeting of the Women’s Unemployment Committee held last night. There was an attendance of ten. Mr R. T. Bailey occupied the chair in the absence of ‘the Mayoress, Mrs D, G. Sullivan. cooking department had served .-on meals- during the past week. Fruit for jam was coming in well, and 500 pounds of jam had been distributed during the week. Large quantities of tomato sauce had been made. The difficulty was the bottling. More jars were required. A good deal of sewing work had been done, new goods having been made and repairs done. Thirty-three women and girls had registered as unemployed, six being placed, leaving a total of 199 to be placed. Miss L. P. Sanders was elected as the committee’s representative on the All Nations Fair Committee. Appeals had been made to various organisations to receive a deputation from the committee. No replies had been received, but a deputation was elected ready for any replies when they should come. The following were elected Miss M. A. Trent, Miss M. B. Lovell Smith, Mrs E. Denniff and Messrs J. Roberts, R. A. Brooks and R. T Bailey. .
