Watson, jockey, against the Auckland District Committee for an order annulling the disqualification imposed upon him is set down in the Auckland Supreme Court fixtures for April 7. Watson was disqualified for life as the outcome of an inquiry into the race for the Buckland Hack Handicap, won by Royal Surve)q ridden by Watson, at the Franklin Racing Club’s meeting last year. The race was run on March 7, but the Franklin stewards did not hold an inquiry. The matter was taken up and dealt with by the Auckland Racing Club District Committee some time later. With the exception of Watson, who had left New Zealand, all the riders who rode in the race were present at the inquiry. Was Wrong Horse Shot? Another action set down for hearing at the Supreme Court is one claiming damages for the shooting of the horse Loving Cup. In this case it is alleged that Loving Cup was shot in mistake for another horse. This case will be heard on March 15 and 16.
