WELLINGTON’S LOSS.
Yacht Marangi to Come to Lyttelton. (Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, December 21. Wellington yachting enthusiasts will learn with regret of the decision of Mr Tracy Gough, of Christchurch, owner of the keel yacht Marangi, to sail the yacht down to Lyttelton immediately after the New Year holidays. The Marangi is to leave Wellington on Christmas Eve as a competitor in the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club’s annual ocean race to Tory Channel, and will go on to Picton, where she will be left until Mr Gough and his party take her over for a cruise in the Sounds in conjunction with the Picton launch Kereru, also owned by Mr Gough. 'The Wellington skipper and crew will return by the Tamahine during the week-end following the race. The absence of the Marangi from local keel yacht racing will be keenly felt. During the twelve seasons she has been in Wellington she has built up a remarkable reputation, and she is now racing better than ever before. Ever since her arrival from Auckland the Marangi has been champion of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, and for the past two seasons she has also held the championship of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club.
