On Saturday afternoon, in the presence of a large gathering, Sir R. Heaton Rhodes laid the foundation stone of the library which he is presenting to the Tai Tapu district. Sir Heaton is having a stone building erected to take the place of the old library, built some fifty years ago, and is also providing the site, the grounds of which will be laid out in lawns.
