BRIGHTON SURF CLUB.
Competition Events to be Held on Sunday. A committee meeting of the New Brighton Surf Bathing and Life Saving Club was held in the pavilion on Thursday evening. It was decided to enter relay and polo teams In the United Club's carnival. The club captain reported that the Miller Cup, a seven-man event, and the Watson Cup, a single-handed rescue, would be held on the beach on Sunday, December 20. Messrs H. G. Smith, N. M. Smith and E. M’Conville were engage 4 for beach patrol work. The following officials were nominated for lnter-club events:—Judges, Messrs F. S. Taylor, H. G. Smith, C. C. Caldwell, L. W. Clarkson and W. F. M’Dowell; timekeepers, Messrs A- L. Tucker and L. C. Matson. Officials nominated for the New Zealand Surf Championship and the William Henry Memorial Shield, to be held at Sumner in February, were:—Judges, Messrs F. S. Taylor and N. F. M’Dowell; marshal, Mr D. G. Wilson; timekeeper, Mr H. Throp. It was decided to allow senior members’ ’wives and’ their friends to use a dressing-room for bathing on Sundays. Two senior and eight Junior members were elected. Donations were received from Messrs T. G. Fox, J. Broome and W. M. Benson.
