TERRIFIC STORM.
Cloud Bursts in Central Otago. BIG LOSS REPORTED. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 19. A terrific cloudburst at Earnscleugh Flat, Central Otago, yesterday did much damage. Down the ridges of Blackman’s Gully water rushed in torrents, carrying away fences and scouring orchards. Water entered Mr C. D. Kinraid’s house by the back door and passed out through the front door. The house had to be vacated. Washouts on railways and roads are also reported. In some orchards, the whole soil was washed away. A large portion of Galloway Flat is under water. Blackman's Creek has changed its course and is now flowing through paddocks of lucerne.
