SOWING SMALL SEEDS. Certain Feed being costly, gardeners are naturally anxious to obtain one plant to one seed. The following method is a Hood one when such is the case: Empty the packet of seed on to a sheet of white paper, wet a sharpened stick or lead pencil, and you will then be able to pick up one seed at a time from the paper and transfer the same to the seed-box or pan. By this means space of an inch or so can be left between each seed and thinning out can be avoided, the seedlings being allowed to grow into sturdy plants before being handled. Vegetables for the Winter Plants Now Ready:—Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbagre, Celery, Kale, Leeks, Savoy, etc. AT SHRUBSHALL’S SEED AND PLANT STORE. 659 Colombo Street - Christchurch.
