The Prudhoe Memorial Scripture prizes were presented by the Revs A. H. .Norris and Horwood. The pupils of Standard VI. took the opportunity of making a presentation to the head master, Mr Napier, in recognition of his work on their behalf during the year. At ten o clock the lower standards assembled in the hall and a good programme of musical and elocutionary items was rendered by the pupils, and the certificates were presented by Mrs Gilbert and Mrs Cairney, the two ladv members of the School Committee. At eleven o’clock the senior classes met and. after a brief address bv the deputy-chairman, the distribution of certificates was proceeded with. The break-up ceremony at the Normal District High School was held in the Training College Hall yesterday afternoon, when an enjoyable concert with a mixed programme of music, dancing and eurytlimics was given by the pupils from various classes from infants to the secondary department. In his remarks, the head master said that all regretted that, for reasons of economy, the Education Department had decided to close the school, which had done successful work for over a quarter of a century in training pupils and student teachers in secondary school work. The school had had a successful year in every way, the girls having been particularly successful in basket-ball and rounder competitions and athletics.
