ITS TASK OVER.

N.Z. Cricket Ltd. is Wound Up. DIVIDEND DECLARED. Its work completed, New Zealand Cricket, Ltd., the company formed to finance the tour of the New Zealand cricket team in England, was wound up last evening. The final phase of the company’s activity was attended by a small number of shareholders, under the presidency of the chairman of directors, Mr A. T. Donnelly. In moving the adoption of the directors’ report (published previously) Mr Donnelly said that the loss of £1461 5s Id suffered on the tour was entirely due to the exceptionally bad summer that the team had met. Had the weather been anything like normal there was no shadow of doubt but that a considerable profit would have been made. However, owing to the arrangement that had been made with finance coming from the art union, shareholders would have their money refunded with interest at 6 per cent. The report was adopted. On the motion of the chairman it was decided: “ That the principal object for which the company was established having been to promote and finance a tour of a New Zealand cricket team to the United Kingdom during the year 1931, as set out in clause 2, sub-section (a) of the memorandum of association of the company, in accordance with section 220, sub-section (a) of the Companies Act, 1908, the company be wound up voluntarily; and that Alfred Ernest Byrne, of Christchurch, accountant, be appointed liquidator for the purpose of such winding up.” On the motion of Mr E. R. Caygill a vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Donnelly and D. E. Wanklyn (treasurer) for their services during the company’s operation. In praise of Mr Donnelly’s work as chairman of directors, Mr Caygill said that shareholders were fully appreciative of his valuable services with the team in England. Mr Donnelly had accepted a responsible post, and had carried it through in a fashion that called for the highest praise. Mr Wanklyn had carried out his duties thoroughly, and as treasurer had been an able second to the chairman.
