LATE MRS GEORGE GERARD
Well Known Resident of Hororata Dies. The death took place yesterday at her town residence, “ Thorneycroft,” Fendalton, of Freda Marie Gerard, wife of Mr George Gerard, the prominent racehorse owner. The late Mrs Gerard (nee Miss Freda Bergh) married Mr Gerard in 1897, afterwards living at “ Snowden,” Mr Gerard’s large estate at Hororata. The late Mrs Gerard was an enthusiastic worker for charities and took a great interest in alKlocal societies at Hororata and also helped to a great extent St Saviour’s Orphanage. She was a keen gardener and lover of flowers, being a vice-president of the Christchurch Horticultural Society. The late Mrs Gerard was of a kindly disposition and highly respected by all who came in contact with her. She leaves a family of five sons and one daughter, the Rev G. B. Gerard, Mr W. G. Gerard, Engineer-Lieutenant-Commander O. J. Gerard, R.N., Mr R. G. Gerard, Mount Flutt, Mr E. F. Gerard and Miss Denis§ Gerard.
