Canterbury Club Reports Good Season. A satisfactory financial position is shown by the annual report and balancesheet of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club, presented at the club’s annual meeting last evening. The president (Mr C. H. Taylor, jun.) presided. The report stated that the season started with a credit balance of £lB 3s 3d and ended with one of £23 12s sd. There were no liabilities. Revenue amounted to £7O 16s lid and expenditure to £47 4s 6d. The club had an excess of asets over liabilities amounting to £95 4s 4d. “ Outstanding subscriptions amount to nearly £6O, an unduly large sum for a membership of eighty-five. Arrangements have been made for a collection to endeavour to secure some of this money,” the report stated. Election of Officers. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr A. E. Flower; president, Mr C. H. Taylor, jun.; vice-presidents, Messrs F. W. Johnston, W. C. Flewellyn, C. S. M’Cully, C. S. Thomas, R. Gracie, W. Anderson, J. Anderson, jun. and C. H. Taylor, sen.; captain, Mr K. Edmonds; vice-captain, Mr W. Bullivant; committee, Messrs J. A. Gasson, R. Cordery, G. F. Hart, R. H. Anderson, A. J. Suckling and L. G. Thompson; auditor, Mr O. W. Anderson; delegates to the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic Association, Messrs Flewellyn, Gasson and Edmonds. The election of secretary was held over until the first meeting of the new committee.

In declining nomination as vice-cap-tain, Mr R. Cordery said he was giving up the track and it was his opinion that the position should be held by an active member. Eulogistic remarks were made by members concerning Mr Cordery’s work for the club. Appreciation was expressed of the services of Mr Flower as patron, Mr Taylor as president, Mr Anderson as auditor, Mr Edmonds as captain and Mr J. A. Gasson as secretary. The report expressed thanks to Mr p. L. Cordery for showing films, Mr C. S. Thomas for lectures and as starter for the Canterbury Centre and Mr R. L. Kennett for the donation of a cup. Votes of thanks were passed to retiring officers. The question of hardship among young members was discussed at length and, on the motion of Mr Flewellyn, it was decided that a committee report on those members whose subscriptions were outstanding with a view to retaining their membership by granting concessions where warranted. The point was raised that the club’s rules did not permit the reduction of subscriptions. PROTECTION ASSOCIATION.

The forty-first annual meeting of the Canterbury Athletic Clubs' Protection Association was held last evening, Mr Angus Donaldson presiding over a fair attendance. In moving the adoption of the annual report, which has already been published, the chairman said that it was a matter for congratulation that the association was not only holding its own but was increasing in strength, five new clubs having affiliated during the year. Mr Donaldson referred to the record of the secretary-treasurer, Mr H. C. Harrison, who had completed thirty years as secretary of the association. The association owed a great deal of its success to Mr Harrison’s work. The following officers were elected:—Secre-tary-treasurer, Mr H. C. Harrison; auditor, Mr Angus Donaldson; committee, Messs A. A. Boot, K. Perrin, H. Snook, L. E. Owen and T. B. J. Donnelly.

NEW BRIGHTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the New Brighton Amateur Athletic Club was held in the surf pavilion last evening. Mr A. Hughes presided. The annual report showed the club to have had f. successful year. The balance-sheet disclosed a balance of assets over liabilities of £lO 16s and cash in hand amounting to £3 6s lOd. It was decided that all unflnancial members should not be allowed to race, the committee to have the power to make any exceptions. On the motion of Mr A. W. Dunkley, it was decided to affiliate with the Sports Protection Association.

The secretary was instructed to write thanking Messrs L. C. Matson and M. P Corliss for donations. • Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring president, Mr S. Gallacher and the secretary, Mr T. Hulme. The date of opening day was left to trie committee to decide and the commencement of training was fixed for October 14. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, the Mayor \Mr J.
