SUNLIGHT LEAGUE.

Sub-Committees’ Monthly Reports. GOOD PROGRESS MADE. Dr Robinson E. Hall, acting chairman, extended a welcome to Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson, a member of the Sunlight League Council, and Mr D. V. Donaldson, president of the New Zealand Dental Association, at the monthly meeting of the Sunlight League in New Zealand held yesterday afternoon in the Victoria League rooms, Cathedral Square. Members of the committee present were:—Mrs J. K. Archer, Mrs B. H. Gilmour, Miss M. M’Lean, Miss R. Muir. Mr de Berry, Miss M’Laughlan, Dr L. Averill, Dr Fox, Mr H. M’D. Vincent and Miss C. Wilding (honorary secretary). Letters were read from her Excel lency, Lady Bledisloe and Dr R. B Dodds of the Otago University stating their interest in the Sunlight League and wishing it every success. A letter was also read from the Hon A. J. Stallworthy congratulating the Sunlight League on its work. It was decided to send a letter to Mr Stallworthy thanking him for his support during his term as Minister of Health. Mrs Gilmour, chairman of the Health Camp Sub-committee, reported that a camp for twelve or fifteen girls to be held at Charteris Bay in January was in view. Mr de Berry, chairman of the Dental and Diet Sub-committee, reported that the committee had been in touch with Mr Tripe at the Sydenham Dental Clinic and also with Mr Rice, who is at present in Christchurch with regard to a scheme for improving children’s teeth. On the motion of Mrs Cracroft Wilson, seconded by Mr de Berry, it was decided that the name “O.K. Scheme" be changed to “A. 1.” This scheme seeks to interest the children in the condition of their teeth and to form a connection between the home and the dental clinics. A certificate is given to every child whor.e mouth is certified hygienically sound and clean. A radio talk on “Teeth and the Dental Scheme” would be given this evening from 3ZC by Mr Davey and Mrs Guy Cotterill. Dr Robinson Hall of the Educational and Publicity Sub-committee, reported that instructive and interesting radio talks had been given by Mr de Berry with the assistance of Mr H. M’D. Vincent. Mr H. M’D. Vincent, of the Tramping Sub-committee stated that at the last meeting it was decided that letters be sent to postmasters in the various bays on the Peninsula asking them to ascertain which residents would be willing to provide accommodation for trampers. Information of the Youth Hostel Movement in Germany and pamphlets, on a film on tramping and outdoor life had been sent from Germany. Dr Fox reporting for the Heliotherapy Committee, said he had been in touch with Mr 11. F. Skey, the meteorologist, who said it would be impossible to gauge the sunlight and rainfall in the Alps without the necessary instruments. He had decided to write to America asking the cost of these instruments, which could not be procured in New Zealand.
