Coming-of-age Party Held at Kaikoura. An enjoyable evening was spent at “Rockwood,” Kaikoura, on Friday, when many friends gathered to celebrate Miss Victoria Chisnall’s twentyfirst birthday. Chapman and F. ChapCard Evening. A card evening organised by those in charge of the cake stall at the coming spring fair at St John’s, Woolston, was held at the residence of Mrs F. Daniels, Radley Street, on Saturday evening. The prizewinners were Mesdames Fordham, Chappell and Fox, Messrs Swainson, Foster and Fox. The Rev F. A. Tooley thanked those pre.sent for attending, also Mr and Mrs Daniels for their hospitality. Recitations were given by Mr Swainson, Mrs F. Daniels, Mrs Foster; songs by Mr Swainson, and pianoforte solos by Mr Gordon Beaumont. Surprise Party at Hawarden. The Hawarden hockey girls spent an enjoyable time on Friday evening, when they paid a surprise visit to their captain, Mrs Berney. The time passed quickly with musical items, games and competitions which were won by Miss J. Croft and Miss Doak, Mrs Laidlaw and Mr Berney. After a dainty supper the Rev J. Anderson, on behalf of the hockey girls, presented Mrs Berney with a supper set. The vice-captain, Miss N. Honeybone, thanked Mr and Mrs Berney for the use of their home. Musical Evening. An enjoyable musical evening was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs P. B. Aldous, Bristol Street, St Albans. Mr D. J. W. Dodson was M.C. and Mr Alfred Jackson provided the music for the dancing. A dainty supper was served. Items were contributed by the following:—Miss E. Harris (national dances), Miss Beryl Aldous, Miss Billie Aldous (songs), Messrs Alfred Jackson (accordeon solos and songs), D. J. W. Dodson, William Jackson, R. Kelly and G. O'Connor (songs).
