Miss J. Mtwbray, president of the Victoria League in Auckland, celebrated her birthday last week in the happiest of circumstances. She was the very honoured guest of the members of the league at a party given by the ever-ready committee, the literature and the sewing committees. There was a large attendance of members and the guest, upon her arrival at the rooms, was received by Mrs J. B. Macfarlane and Miss Fenton, who, on behalf of the committees, presented her with bouquets of spring flowers. Further gifts of flowers followed, for Miss Mowbray, as she passed down between two rows of members, was presented with further fragrant tokens of their regard—more than she could carry. Musical honours were also accorded her. Later, Miss Mowbray was made the recipient of a card table fitted with all accessories, Mrs J. B. Macfarlane making the presentation. A musical programme was enjoyed, after which a beautiful cake was cut by the guest of honour.
