A SIX MONTHS’ SENTENCE
Labourer Converted Car to His Own Use. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 2. A total of six months’ imprisonment was imposed on William Herbert Webster, aged 22, a labourer, by- Mr Page, S.M., on charges of converting a motorcar to his own use at Hamilton and stealing £4. It was stated that the accused had three previous convictions for theft and another for obtaining credit by fraud. Harold Leonard Dick, aged 20, and Eric George Pocock, aged 24, who were convicted yesterday along with Webster on a charge of conversion, were further remanded to enable the probation officer to secure reports from Auckland. Pocock was similarly remanded on a further charge of receiving £1 10s in money from Webster knowing that it had been dishonestly obtained.
