BOARD LOSES CASE.
Purchaser of House not Liable. LIGHT INSTALLATION. (Special to the “Star.”) TIMARU, September 2. The South Canterbury Electric Power Board was non-suited to-day by Mr C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., in a reserved judgment dealing with the board’s claim against F. Dungey (Waimate) for £l2 3s 7d, balance due for an electrical installation. The point at issue was whether the purchaser of a property is liable for payments to power boards for installations secured by- the previous owner on the time-payment sy-stem. Defendant purchased the house from a Mrs Beattie, who had had electric light installed. She assigned her right to Dungey- after paying portion of the cost. The bQara’s contention was that they had a charge on the property and must get judgment against the present occupant.
