South Island Maori match at Lancaster Park next Saturday. The Dominion team will later play matches in each of those four districts, commenc- : ing next week. Some of the South Island team will arrive in Christchurch to-night, and others to-morrow. The North Islanders, including G. Nepia, the famous All Black, are due to-morrow morning by the ferry steamer. The match on Saturday will be for the Prince of Wales Cup, of which the Te Waipounamu (South Island) team are the holders. Many well-known footballers will be seen in action and, as usual when Maori teams meet, there should be brilliant . unorthodox football. Nepia should be the mainstay of the north and is re- [ puted to be playing as well as ever. The southern team comprise wellknown players in the Robinson brothers, Purdue, Bell and J. M’Donald. As a curtain-raiser at Lancaster Park, - the Challenge Cup competition will be continued, when Varsity meet Merivale at 1.30 p.m. This should be a spirited encounter and should provide attractive football. On the south ground at 1.30 p.m., Sydenham play Albion, and on the same ground at 3 p.m. Christchurch meet Athletic. There will be a game on the west ground, commencing at 1.30, between Linwood and Old Boys. For the convenience of patrons a description of the Ranfurly Shield match between Canterbury and Wellington will be broadcast by means of loud speakers, and this should prove a splendid attraction. Last year the “ bankers ” were able to follow closely 1 the fortunes of the New Zealand team in the fourth test match by this means, . and it is anticipated that Saturday’s * description will be just as good.
