TRAINER IN COURT.
Allegedly Intoxicated When in Charge of Car. SEQUEL TO COLLISION. Arthur Edward Bussell, aged fortyfour, a horse trainer, of 72, Flockton Street, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car when he appeared before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day. He was also charged with negligent driving. The accused, for whom Mr Tracy appeared, pleaded not guilty to both charges. Senior-Sergeant Fox conducted the prosecution. Edwin Hawthorne said that on July 25 he was riding a bicycle in Madras Street. His wife was with him on another bicycle. Near the Chester Street intersection a motor-car collided with his wife’s bicycle, the car having cut the corner. Witness heard the occupants of the car singing. The accused, who was driving, was under the influence of liquor. Doris Hawthorne, wife of the previous witness, also gave evidence. (Proceeding.)
