15 DEGREES OF FROST FELT THIS MORNING.

A frost of 15.9 degrees was recorded at the Magnetic Observatory this morning. Already in the early day's of this month three frosts of 14 degrees or over have been recorded. This morning’s frost froze several water pipes, but most people, warned by the previous cold snap, had filled kettles and were able to obtain water for household purposes. Passengers in trams came to town blindly, all the car windows being covered by a fine deposit of frost cry'stals. On one car window some humorist had scratched in the frost the words “ Canterbury' Frozen Meat C 0.,” which adequately described the condition of passengers who stamped cold feet and blew on numbed hands. The following table gives a list of the heavier frosts recorded since May 2 of this year:— Degrees.
