HOMES INUNDATED BY FLOOD WATERS.

MURRAY RIVER SWEEPS THROUGH WENTWORTH. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received August 6, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 6. i The levee which was raised to keep back the Murray flood waters gave way and a huge wall of water swept across the settlement of Curlwaa into Wentworth. Both the southern and northern ends of Wentworth are now inundated. Practically the whole town is surrounded by walls of sandbags and levees are being constantly patrolled. The hospital is still in great danger. Hundreds of homes are inundated. A cablegram published yesterday stated that, with the hospital, picture theatre and dwellings in Wentworth, at the junction of the Darling and Murray Rivers, protected by embankments holding back several feet of water, the town resembled a series of islands in a vast expanse of flood waters. The hospital was in great danger. It had been decided to abandon it and remove the patients to Mildura. Residents worked continuously for five da> r s and nights building levees to keep the rivers back. Many families were sheltering in the gaol.
