RAI VALLEY HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE.

HEAVY FROST CAUSE OF BLOCK IN WATER SUPPLY Pei* Press Association. BLENHEIM, August 6. The Rai Valley accommodation house, on the road to Nelson, owned by Mr M. Hart, leased by Mr G. Mosely, and comprising sixteen rooms, was destroyed by fire at half past two this morning. It was built six years ago. The eleven inmates only had time to escape in their night attire. Splendid work by residents saved the adjoining store and bakehouse owned by Mr M. Hart. A very heavy frost during the night made it difficult at first to obtain water, which hampered the efforts of the fire fighters. The telephone wires were burnt through. Insurances are not available, but Messrs Hart and Mosely are heavy losers.
