WELLING TON SCORE EASY WIN IN RANFURLY SHIELD MATCH.
Canterbury College Defeat Otago University Players. ELLINGTON easily defeated Southland in the Ranfurly ’ » Shield match, which was played at Wellington yesterday. Brilliant combination among the backs, with the ex-Canterbury five-eighth, Lilburne, always to the fore, was the main factor of the victory. In the annual match between the Otago University and Canterbury College teams, which was played at Dunedin, Canterbury won after an even battle. A wet ground and a greasy ball militated against a bright display. The representative game between Wairarapa and Bush was mainly a hard forward tussle, Wairarapa coming out on lop. The scores were:— Wellington 36, Southland 13. Wairarapa 14, Bush 9. Canterbury College 6, Otago University 3.
