BOXING.
TIMARU TOURNEY. (Special to the “Star.”) TIMARU, July 22. The following' entries for preliminaries to the Campbell-O’Malley championship bout on July 30 were accepted by the committee of the Timaru Boxing Association last evening:— Feather—A. Currie (Temuka) and W. Murphy (Timaru). Several entries in this class were not accepted, as the committee considered the boxers were not up to championship standard. Light-weight—L. Ennis (Timaru) and E. Wade (Timaru).
'Middle-weight—E. Collins (Timaru), 11. Crofts (Oaraaru), Linton (Kurow) and M’Gregor (Waitaki Hydro).
The following programme was decided upon:—First bout (8 p.m.)—First round middle-weights; second bout, second round middle-weights; third bout, Murphy (Timaru) and Currie - (Temuka); fourth bout, Ennis (Timaru) and Wade (Timaru); fifth bout, final middle-weight championship; professional championship 9.15 sharp.
The secretary (Mr M. Angland) reported that he was visiting Geraldine, Temuka, Fairlie, Waimate, Kurow and Oamaru, arranging transport and seating accommodation for patrons. He made special reference to the generous assistance accorded him by the Waitaki Hydro Works Boxing Club. Members expressed pleasure at the excellent arrangements and the bright prospects for a successful tourney.
