FORTY MINERS TO APPEAR IN COURT.

CHARGES ARISE OUT OF PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION. (Special to the “Star.”) GREYMOUTH. June 19. The Greymouth Magistrate’s Court will have a field day on Monday, when over forty Blackball miners are to appear on charges arising out of last Wednesday’s demonstration and subsequent events. A large proportion of the summonses relate to alleged attempts by union members to stop so-called tribute workers from continuing operations. At least ten informations relate to broken windows in houses. To-night a general meeting of the Blackball Union was held and it was followed by an executive meeting. Officials of the national organisation attended both meetings, the business of which was not divulged. Blackball is quiet but there is a feeling of uneasiness apparent and apprehensions are felt as to what will occur when the police are withdrawn. Some residents express the belief that serious trouble will develop as soon as the present protective measures terminate It is an open secret that a demonstra tion is to be made against the tribute workers at Briandale, but so far the date of this has not been divulged. ,
