Cures for a Cold. An excellent thing to clear a cold in the head is an inhalant made from a pinch of menthol crystals in a teacup of boiling water. A nasal douche is advisable, when there is much catarrh. This is quite effective when it consists of hot water in which a little salt is dissolved; just sniffed up the nostrils from the palm of the hand; or it may be a weak antiseptic such as carbolic acid 1 grain, bicarbonate of soda 4 grains to one ounce water.

Benzine and finely-powered French chalk may be used to clean the keys of a piano.
