PENALTIES ARE IMPOSED FOR TRAFFIC BREACHES.
Numerous offenders against the traffic by-laws were dealt with by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning, the cases being brought by the police. For cycling on the footpath, Ivan Walter Athfield and Arnold Johnson were each fined 5s and costs and Leslie Wilson 10s and costs.
For cycling without a light, Kimberley Wilson was fined 10s and costs. Raymond John Linton was fined 5s without costs for a similar offence. Harold Bamford, for failing to give his name and address, was fined 5s and costs and was convicted and discharged for driving with an endorsed certificate. V Roy Allan Love was fined 20s and costs for using a motor-cycle without a certificate of registration and Clarence Parrish, for failing to notify a change of ownership, was fined 10s and costs.
For negligent driving, Lena Amelia Beauvais was fined £2 and costs, and Marjorie Nelson 30s and costs. A case against George Cade (Mr Tohnston) was dismissed, and Henry Charles B. H. Isaacs was convicted and discharged.
For driving without a license, Reginald Browning and Francis Oakley Shacklock were each fined 5s and costs and Doris Kingdon was convicted and discharged.
The following were fined for failing to give way:—Helen Hamilton Garrick £2 and costs. May Gwendoline Herriott 30s and costs, William Edward Weld 20s and costs, William James V. Hamilton £2 and costs and 10s and costs for failing to report an accident. For driving without lights, William Henry H. Bunting was fined 10s and costs. Andrew M’Guire was fined 10s and os with costs on two charges of parking without lights. On two similar charges, he was convicted and discharged. For passing a motor-car on the wrong side, Major Hood was fined £2 and costs. For driving with insufficient fights Edward Lew Edwards was fined 5s and costs.
George Johnston, for having no footrests on a motor-cycle, was fined 5s and costs. On a charge of driving without a license he was fined 5s without costs. For aiding an offence Albert Byrne was fined 5s without costs.
