MISCHA LEVITZKI.

Mischa Levitzki, the eminent and universally popular pianist, who will give three concerts in this city next week— Thursday, June 25, Saturday, June 27, and Tuesday. Jtme 30—under the E. J. Gravestock direction, has been receiving amazingly fine criticisms from the Auckland and Australian papers. Referring to the first recital of the Xew Zealand tour, the musical critic of the Auckland “Herald” wrote, in the course of a glowing review;—“To describe as a sensation the piano recital given by Mischa Levitzki in the Town Hall last evening would not do sufficient justice to an artist whose brilliant technique and superb polish evoked from a large audience a spontaneous tribute of applause. Working gradually from the severely classical to an exquisite group of Chopin compositions. Mr Levitzki concluded his programme with a dazzling display of musical fireworks which, after repeated encores, left bis audience still clamouring for more.” Referring to the same concert, the Auckland “Star” critic wrote: “After hearing last night’s performance one can quite easily realise why Levitzki is regarded as a pianist idol by the music-loving public. This unassuming young genius lias developed into one of the world's consummate technicians. For dazzling brilliance, combined with clarity of vision in interpretation, he can have but few equals. He Is regarded as one of the three greatest piartlsts in the musical world of to-day. afid of these three not the least.” The box plans for the three concerts will open at The Bristol next Monday.
