Lady Hosking, Wellington, is on a visit to Waiau, North Canterbury, Lady Bell and Miss Enid Bell, Lowry Bay, are visiting friends in Nelson.

Miss Meta Nixon, Fendalton, returned to-day from a visit to Marlborough. Mrs A. W. Andrew, Cashmere Hills, returned j’esterday from a visit to North Canterburj’'.

Mrs IT. Spence-Clark and Miss Joan Spence-Clark have reached England, where they intend to settle. Miss Alison Laery, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs Douglas Russell, Cashmere Hills, returned to Auckland on Tuesday. Miss G. V. Howie has returned to Christchurch, from a visit to Wellington in connection with the Wool Carnival and Pageant. Miss Dorothy Pettey, Christchurch, who was the guest, of Miss Molly Masefield, Akaroa, has returned to Christchurch. Miss Wilkin, of Timaru, who has been in Switzerland, mainly in Geneva, for the past few months, is now in London, where she will take a course in the London Clinic, Westminster.

Mr and Mrs John Rennie, of Fendalton, Christchurch, who are at present visiting Auckland, will leave shortly for Sydney, and will later visit their daughter in Brisbane.

Mrs F. Davison has returned to Wellington after spending the summer months at her home in Culverden, North Canterbury. She is now the guest of Miss Eileen Didsbury.

Mrs Cribb, of Greymouth, widow of Major Cribb, 13th Canterbury Regiment, is touring the south of England, and Scotland, and later intends to visit France and Belgium, her brother’s grave being in the latter country.

The “ Star ” correspondent informs us that the following notice appeared in “ The Times,” London, on May 11, 1931:—The engagement is announced between Francis George Clark, Royal Artillery, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Clark, of Wellington, New Zealand, and Florence Joy, daughter of Mr and Mrs P. A. M’Hardy, of Aramoana, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Mr Clark has just been posted to the 3rd Field Brigade, R.A., and will be stationed at Woolwich.
