UNION AUTHORITIES CUT SALARIES TEN PER CENT. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received March 31, 10.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 31. Although union officials are strenuously opposed to any reduction in wages by the Arbitration Court, and insisted that the Hogan Government should not agree to any dismissals, salary decreases or rationing in State enterprises, the Trades Hall authorities have approved of the principle of a reduction in wages for their own employees to meet economic circumstances. The Trades .Hall Council reduced the salaries of its employees by 10 per cent, which was the rate fixed by the Arbitration Court. The Full Court of the Compionwealth Arbitration Court . has granted. a number of applications for reduction by 10 per cent in the wages prescribed in certain industries. In other cases consideration was reserved, but in none was an application refused.
