KITCHEN EVENING. At the residence of Mr and Mrs Pollard, Watson’s Road, Hare wood, a surprise party was recently held to do honour to Miss Winnie Pollard in view of her approaching marriage. The party took the form of a “ kitchen ” evening, and music, games and competitions made the evening pass enjoyably. Among those present were:— Mr and Mrs Pollard, Misses Winnie Pollard, Ruby Blair, Thelma Lehrs, Pearl Hockey, Ella Burrows, Irene Case, Doris Preece, Esma Tapper, Harper Harris (Ashley), Violet Sutherland, Nancy Pollard, Warren, E. Pollard and Phyllis Webb, Messrs R. Blair, G. Higham, L. Gaskell, A. Donald, A. Morwood, W. White, E. Blair, T. Blair, A. Pollard, W. Warren, J. Warren, E. Langdon and Tombs (2). Social at Southbridge. A social was held in St John’s Presbyterian Hall, Southbridge, recently for the Harvest Festival. The evening was spent in games and competitions. A musical programme was given by Mesdames Cooper, Eggleton, Misses Betty Eggleton, N. Parkin and the Rev W. G. Hannah and Mr A. Anderson. Mrs Scott was accompanist. Gift Party. At “Rolston,” the residence of Mrs A. Godfrey, an enjoyable evening was held recently in honour of Miss Leta Faulls, who is shortly to be married. Games and competitions were enjoyed and the opening of the many parcels caused much amusement. Among those present were: Mesdames J. Faulls, G. Parr, 11. liookham, A. Lewis, E. Anderson and M.
