“PLUNDER" SCORES HIT.
For the opening- of the Plaza Theatre the proprietors chose an all-round excellent programme, headed by “ Plunder,” another clever and uproarious Ben Travers farce, presented by the same first-rate group of players who recently delighted Christchurch audiences with ” Rookery Nook.” It. might well have been thought that in “Rookery Nook” Ben Travers had reached a height in comedy he would never again attain, but “ Plunder ” is every bit as goo<l, and. with its predecessor, will be a bright spot in the memories of those who see it for a long tipie to come. Although the two pictures are in the same vein of high comedy, “Plunder” is not in any way a repetition of the previous production. It took only one picture to spread the reputatin of Tom Walls. Ralph bynn. "Winifred Shotter and Mary Brough, already great on the legitimate stage, to every part of the world where there is a talking picture theatre, even in America, and it must have been welcome news to all theatregoers when the announcement was made here that the same four laughtermakers were once more to be seen in an all-British comedy. The whole picture is a delight from begininng to end, and is a great tribute to British production, acting and authorship. A talking cartoon, “ Skv Skippers,” is one of the funniest. and in " Sacred Fires,” a picture of native life on the banks of the Ganges at Benares, India, Tom Terris takes the audience on a fascinating trip through the Indian holy. city.
