EWE FAIR HELD AT SHEFFIELD
PRICES SHOW INCREASE ON HAWARDEN SALES.
.The Sheffield Ewe Pair was held to-day. As at previous fairs, the entry was substantially smaller than it was ,a * *’ ear « and the Quality also showed a falling off.
Prices were decidedly up on those of Hawarden, but the bidding was a good deal less brisk than at the Culverden fair last week.
Young sheep sold proportionately better than the older ewes. The attendance of buyers was not large. The Sheffield fair offered the last opportunity for securing high country ewes, and these to-day were fairly keenly sought after. Some early sales were:—
Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd.. sold:— On account of Gilbert Grigg (Haldon), 390 two-tooth half-bred at 18s to 18s 9d: 11. C. Townshend (Enfield Park). 290 two-t.ooth half-bred at 16s 8d; James Cullen (Waddington), 151 four and sixtooth half-bred at 10s; Milliken's Estate (Brooksdale), 148 mixed sex three-quarter-bred lambs at 10s; 155 mixed sex half-bred at 9s 4d; J. Cochrane (Baldoon), 327 four, six and eight-tooth half-bred at 9s:
